Joe Browning

Using ultrasonic speakers placed in the Hillstreet shopping centre, passers by will be plunged into an underwater journey, blending hydrophone recordings of the diverse ecosystem of Tees valley nature reserves, with field recordings of the shopping center.

Joe is a Sound Artist oriented in communal collaboration to interact with and generate archives, interested in the exchange of agency between human, more-than-human, ‘past’ and ‘present’ in the creation of sound work. Through installations and performances, Joe combines these elements as co-creators across the UK and internationally. These interactions are facilitated through field recording, original productions and devising techniques.
